Choose the Right Mount

Match the mount to your TV's VESA pattern (check the manual or measure the mounting holes on the back). Fixed mounts are flush, tilting allows angle adjustment, and full-motion extends and swivels.

Step 2 of 7

Find the Studs

Use a stud finder to locate wall studs. Mark both edges of each stud. Mount lag bolts go directly into studs — drywall anchors alone cannot support a TV's weight.

Warning

Never mount a TV into drywall alone. The TV WILL fall.

Step 3 of 7

Mark and Drill

Hold the mount against the wall at desired height (center of screen at eye level when seated). Use a level to ensure it's straight. Mark drill holes. Drill pilot holes into the studs.

Step 4 of 7

Secure the Wall Plate

Attach the wall plate using lag bolts. Tighten firmly but don't overtighten — you can strip the wood. Verify everything is level.

Tip

Have a helper hold the mount while you drill for easier alignment.

Step 5 of 7

Attach Brackets to TV

Attach the mounting arms or brackets to the back of your TV using the provided screws. Make sure the bracket size matches your TV's VESA pattern.

Step 6 of 7

Hang the TV

With a helper, lift the TV and hook the brackets onto the wall plate. Most mounts have a locking mechanism — engage it. This usually requires pulling down on a latch or tightening a screw.

Warning

TV mounting is a two-person job. Large TVs are awkward and heavy.

Manage Cables

Route cables through cable management channels or in-wall for the cleanest look. Connect HDMI, power, and other cables. Test all inputs.

Pro Tip

Install a recessed power outlet behind the TV for completely hidden cables.
