Most applications can export to PDF. In any program, go to File → Print → Select 'Print to PDF' or 'Save as PDF' as your printer. This works universally across platforms.

In Microsoft Word: File → Save As → Choose PDF format. In Google Docs: File → Download → PDF Document. Both produce high-quality PDFs with formatting preserved.

Large PDFs can be reduced using online compressors or Adobe's Reduce File Size option. For print quality, keep at 300 DPI. For email/web, 150 DPI is usually sufficient.

Pro Tip

For scanned documents, use OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to make the text searchable.
